Women, Drugs and Pregnancy

Drug or alcohol use for a pregnant woman is doubly dangerous for her own health and for the health of the unborn baby. It is extremely important to avoid all drug and alcohol use, legal and illegal, while pregnant. Studies have shown that consumption of illegal drugs or alcohol while pregnant can result in low birth weight, placental abruption, miscarriage, premature labor, developmental delays, behavioral and learning disabilities, mental retardation, fetal death and even maternal death. Consult with your Doctor right away if you are actively using while you become pregnant and if you are having trouble quitting.
