The Importance of Making Amends and Practicing Forgiveness during Recovery

Posted in Addictions on Nov 06, 2014

While in Addiction Recovery, you will learn the importance of self-forgiveness and forgiving others. One of the reasons why this is necessary during recovery is because it is important to let go of negative feelings such as resentment and anger. Although this may be easier for some than others, you will get closer to your goal everyday by practicing forgiveness and making amends.

If you are currently working the 12 steps with a sponsor, then you will recognize “making amends” as one of the steps in recovery. This is a very crucial step, and this step requires you to right all of your previous wrongs and form better bonds with everyone from your past. Once you successfully complete this step then you are one step closer to moving forward in your addiction recovery.
