How to Stay Sober in College and Still Have Fun

Posted in Sober Living on Nov 15, 2015

For most teens leaving home to go to college, they dream of all the parties they will be going to. For others, they worry about how to avoid parties and the temptations that come along with it.

Already having stayed at a Florida sober living home as a young person can seem isolating when trying to make friends in college. If you are on the hunt for ways to make friends and socialize that do not involve keg parties, then look no further! Awakenings for Women know just how to stay sober in college and still have fun.

Get adventurous. College is the time for new experiences and to try new things. So why not take advantage of the resources at your college? In lieu of shouting “Toga!” at a keg party, do something with substance, such as studying abroad in a country you have never been to before. Let’s face it, “Participated in the study abroad program and learned a new language” looks a lot better than “Beer Pong Champion” on a resume.

Intern. While everyone else is out partying, take the opportunity to get a few steps ahead of your peers by taking on an internship. Not only will this put you in a better position to find a job once you graduate, you may even be able to find an internship that pays as well! Don’t worry, you can thank your womens sober living home later.
