How to Sabotage Your Loved One’s Recovery

Posted in Addictions, Recovery, Sober Living on Jan 15, 2016

Having a loved one who is dealing with a substance abuse problem is never easy. However, avoiding the problem and failing to get them the necessary help from a halfway house in Florida will only enable their drug addiction.

For those who are unsure of whether or not they are helping their loved get help, make sure you are not doing anything on this list of how to sabotage your loved one’s recovery.

Keep their secret. By not telling anyone about their substance abuse problem, you are ultimately keeping them from getting help from a Florida sober living home. Unless they have already admitted that they have a problem and are willing to get help for their addiction, then don’t keep their secret from family members or others who can help.

Manage their life. It may be a habit to want to help your loved one throughout the trivial tasks of their day, but by doing every little thing for your loved one, you stop them from maturing. Treat your loved one who is battling with the addiction like an adult and don’t baby them throughout the entire process.

Not point out red flags. Just because your loved one has completed their stay at a women’s sober living home does not mean that they are completely “cured.” There is always the potential for a relapse, with more people relapsing than not. By pointing out a potential relapse, you will end up getting them back on the right path of sobriety.
