Can I Really Change with Rehab?

Posted in Addictions, Recovery, Rehab, Staying sober on Jul 01, 2014

You may have tried to get sober before, and perhaps you were even able to reach sobriety for a period. But without realizing why you turned to alcohol in the first place, remaining sober is near impossible. Usually women wait to start focusing on their recovery until they feel they have reached a reasonable level of sobriety. However, the recovery process has to coincide with the decision to get help; otherwise the reasons to stay sober disappear, and drinking seems entirely reasonable.

Focus on Positive Changes

Placing focus on changing behaviors that fuel addictions results in immediate benefits. You may feel like you have tried so many times before to effect change, yet nothing ends up being different. Feelings of self-doubt and emptiness seep back in, making the idea of trying to change overwhelming. At times, the only method for reaching a place of hope is by traveling through the land of desperation.

Added Effort Fosters Growth

Putting forth the tremendous effort required to move through rehab and recovery requires continual focus on honesty. This approach enables you to become the different person you long to be. Granted it will take work, but the results are positively life changing. Positivity encourages growth, and growth changes us; it makes us different. Set your own terms and embrace a new life. Be different and be the person you want to be.
