4 Sober Resolutions for the New Year

Posted in drug abuse, Sober Holidays, Sober Living on Jan 05, 2017

The new year is here, which brings the opportunity for removal of destructive habits, future goal setting, and a fresh start. The tradition of creating New Year’s resolutions is something our women’s center for sober living in Florida at Awakenings for Women encourages all women to take part in.

Try these sober resolutions to stay on track for the new year:

1.Your very first resolution should be to stay sober.  You have already committed to long term sobriety from drugs and alcohol, so be proud of yourself for overcoming your addiction, and promise yourself you will uphold this commitment all year long.

2. Remove triggers from your life. The best way to avoid relapse is to explore who and what triggers your addiction, and why. Understanding the underlying causes of your addiction helps you to avoid it in the future while you are sober living in Florida.

3. Make amends with your past. Forgive and forget who or what circumstances led you to your addiction. Inner peace is a critical part of maintaining a sober lifestyle.

4. Help others overcome their addiction. No matter how much time you have had in sobriety, there is somebody out there that is suffering from addiction and could use your guidance. Encourage other women to commit to sober living in Florida at Awakenings for Women.

Creating New Year’s resolutions for yourself is a great way to ensure 2017 is a successful year for you. Do not let your resolutions be short lived or forgotten. Stay strong and prove how successful you can be in your sobriety.
